Elizabeth Schamberger, P.G., Owner, President

Betsy is the owner and president of Moonstone Environmental, LLC. She is a licensed Professional Geologist and a certified Asbestos Building Inspector with over 18 years of experience working in the environmental industry. She has worked extensively with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). She specializes in due diligence for commercial real estate transactions and assessments related to brownfield redevelopment. Her experience includes Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments (ESAs), PADEP’s Land Recycling Program (Act 2), PADEP’s Storage Tank Program, and the USEPA Brownfields Assessment Program. Her technical background includes groundwater modeling, contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeological investigation, geologic mapping, and acid mine drainage.

Betsy founded Moonstone in 2006. In March 2016, she moved the office to a new location to add space for the company to grow. In May 2016, she was recognized by Lehigh Valley Business Journal as one of the Lehigh Valley’s Women of Influence. She is an active member of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) and served as Membership Chair and President Elect. She has been a Board Member at The Literacy Center in Allentown since 2011, serving as Secretary on the Executive Committee since 2015.

Bryan McAtee, Field Manager

Bryan joined Moonstone in 2016. He has four years of experience and has worked on Phase I site investigations, Phase II site investigations, hydrogeological investigations, and large-scale soil remediation projects in the oil & gas industry. He has a strong background in performing geologic field work, including structural mapping, soil boring and monitoring well installations, and field assessments of impacted soil and groundwater.

Derrick Watkins, Environmental Technician

During the summer of 2015, Derrick was an intern for Moonstone. In June 2016, he joined Moonstone full-time after graduating from Lock Haven University with a degree in Geology. At Lock Haven, Derrick was a research assistant in the hydrogeology lab and a recipient of the Ira and Gillian Masemore Scholarship. His duties at Moonstone include performing Phase I and Phase II site assessments (soil and water sampling) as well as preparing report graphics and conducting research for reports.

Prior to joining Moonstone, Derrick worked at Rosenberger Dairy Products in Krumsville, Pennsylvania, for six years. There he was responsible for ordering necessary equipment, reconditioning farming equipment, overseeing dairy production, and administering vaccines/oral medications to the animals.

Nicole Meyers, Office Manager

Nicole has been with Moonstone since 2010. She initially filled a position in accounting, but rapidly became a critical member of the team, running virtually all non-scientific aspects of the business and assisting Betsy with strategic planning. She has over 15 years of experience working in accounting and office administration. Before coming to Moonstone, she worked as a bookkeeper and legal administrative assistant for a law firm. Prior to that, she was an office administrator for an electronics company, where her responsibilities included corresponding with overseas customers, providing customer quotations, determining terms and conditions of sale, negotiating pricing and purchasing items for export, assisting in accounts payable / receivable, and office administration.

Team Member Emeritus – Jill A. Maurer, Project Manager

After joining Moonstone in February 2009, Jill scaled back her hours in 2016. She now assists us as an on-call consultant for Phase I ESAs. Prior to coming to Moonstone, she was an officer in the U.S. Army for over twenty-four years. She has nine years of active duty experience and over fifteen years of reserve experience as a tactical communications and electronics officer, stationed in the U.S, Europe, and Japan. She also worked for Merck & Co., Inc. for more than thirteen years. At Merck, she held positions as quality control inspector, supervisor, validation engineer/scientist, and project manager. She has extensive experience in the areas of organization, supervision, quality control, environmental health & safety, and biological / contamination detection for air, surfaces & water systems. While at Moonstone, Jill was involved with Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), groundwater and soil sampling, well installations, and air compliance work.
